About The Farm

IN 1890, Albert Washington Wooten, married to Cornelia Blake Branch, settled on what is now Buffalo River Farm in Summertown, Tennessee.

Mr. Wooten, the great grandfather of Donna Branch, owned the country store, the saw mill and was the area magistrate. Cornelia Blake Branch was a descendant of a North Carolina governor and served as postmistress of what was then Lindhaur, Tennessee. The country store is now the innkeeper's residence.

Buffalo River Farm is a 456 acre working family farm and tree plantation.  The farm is managed based on the principles of sustainability and has applied for a green certification through TripAdvisor.  Since the innkeeper's residence is separate from the farmhouse where guests stay, this setting gives a private place where those who visit can experience the beauty and peace at their own pace.
