This is the first in a series of a few articles on the Natchez Trace. Buffalo River Farm is located 3.5 miles from the Trace and many of our guests travel the Trace. Many people are unaware of the Natchez Trace and its beauty and I thought a few posts about the Trace might contribute.
The Natchez Trace, also known as the Old Natchez Trace, is a historical path that extends roughly 444 miles from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville Tennessee through exceptional scenery and 10,000 years of North American history.
It links the Cumberland, Tennessee and Mississippi rivers and was created and used for centuries by Native Americans, "Kaintucks", settlers, and future presidents, the Old Trace played an important role in American history. Today, visitors can enjoy not only a scenic drive but also hiking, biking, horseback riding , and camping.
